The MT Newswires MCP server is available as a hosted remote server. Connect
it to any MCP-compatible client in a few steps.
Getting Connected
Connecting Claude works for both the Desktop app and the web client.
- Navigate to the Customize Connectors page
- Select the + icon near the Connectors
- Choose Browse Connectors
- Search for "MT Newswires"
- Click the + to add it
- Choose MT Newswires from the list of Not Connected connectors
- Click Connect
- Log in with your MT Newswires credentials
Tip: Open MT Newswires from the Connectors menu and set its access to 'Always allow' to make it much easier to use. Otherwise, you can approve each tool call as it is used.
MT Newswires is an official app in the ChatGPT app directory. A workspace admin enables it for the workspace, after which members can use it in chat.
- Navigate to the Apps menu within ChatGPT.
- Click Directory and search for "MT Newswires".
- Click Enable.
- Tip: Select Configure action confirmation, choose Allow read actions with no user confirmation, and click Save to make it much easier to use. Otherwise, you can approve each tool call as it is used.
- If prompted, choose Publish.
- Confirm MT Newswires appears in the Enabled tab.
Once enabled, members can use MT Newswires in any chat by @-mentioning it (for example, "@MT Newswires latest on the Fed") or by selecting + → More and choosing MT Newswires.
The MT Newswires connector can be added in Computer through Perplexity's connector directory.

Q: What user data does this connector store?
A: The connector does not store prompts or conversation content from your AI assistant. The connector does log tool call activity, which includes the request parameters sent to a tool and the response payload returned by it. This is used solely to detect and prevent abuse (such as scraping, credential sharing, and rate-limit evasion) and to diagnose errors and improve tool quality and news coverage.
Q: Why did this change?
A: Previously, tool call payloads were processed transiently and discarded. As of October 1, 2026, we retain them for a limited period for the abuse prevention and service improvement purposes described above.
Q: How long are tool call payloads retained?
A: Tool call request and response payloads are retained for up to 1 year, after which they are automatically deleted. Aggregate, non-identifying statistics derived from them (such as call volume by tool) may be retained longer.
Q: Who can access this data?
A: Access is limited to authorized personnel for the purposes described above. We do not sell this data or share it with third parties for purposes other than described above, except where required by law.
Q: Is this data used to train AI models?
A: We may use de-identified tool call data to evaluate and improve our retrieval and ranking systems. We do not use it to train generative models, and we do not share it with third-party model providers.
Q: What other, non-user data is stored?
A: For billing purposes, we retain:
● Billing ID: an opaque billing identifier used to associate requests with a client's usage tier.
● Timestamp: the time a request was made.
Your payment details are safe: we never see or store your credit card or bank details. All payments are handled securely by our partner Authorize.Net, which is PCI DSS compliant.
Q: Is any personally identifiable information (PII) collected?
A: We collect only the basic account information we need, such as your name and email. We do not intentionally collect PII through tool calls. However, because tool call request parameters are supplied by the end user's AI assistant, they may incidentally contain personal or confidential information if a user includes it in a query. We treat retained tool call data as confidential and apply the same access controls and retention limits described above. We recommend not submitting sensitive personal information through tool queries.
Q: Is data encrypted in transit?
A: Yes. All communications to and from the connector are encrypted using industry standard TLS.

Q: How long is billing data retained for?
A: Usage and billing data is stored for at least 1 year to facilitate billing and auditing.
User control and rights
You may update your registration information at any time by contacting Customer Support at customersupport@mtnewswires.com. You can also request that your registration information be deleted, and you may request deletion of tool call data associated with your account. Note that if we delete your account, we may maintain certain de-identified information about you for internal business purposes including research, analytics, and reporting, and we may retain records necessary to comply with legal or audit obligations.
